¡ By the star when it sets, 1 This verse refers to the setting of Pleiades, or to the destruction of all stars on the Day of Judgment, as in 81:2: And when the stars fade away (Aj, Ṭ, Ṭū). According to another interpretation, the word usually translated “star,” najm, could refer to the gradual revelation of the Quran in continual installments (nujūm; Bq, Ṭ, Ṭū); see 56:75c.
