لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ﴿1﴾
I swear by this city, Makkah - (English: Saheeh International)
I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) (English: Sarwar)
وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ﴿2﴾
And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city - (English: Saheeh International)
in which you are now living (English: Sarwar)
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ﴿3﴾
And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],N (English: Saheeh International)
or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) (English: Sarwar)
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ﴿4﴾
We have certainly created man into hardship. (English: Saheeh International)
that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. (English: Sarwar)
أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ﴿5﴾
Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? (English: Saheeh International)
Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? (English: Sarwar)
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا﴿6﴾
He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." (English: Saheeh International)
(He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". (English: Sarwar)
أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ﴿7﴾
Does he think that no one has seen him? (English: Saheeh International)
Does he think that no one has seen him? (English: Sarwar)
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ﴿8﴾
Have We not made for him two eyes? (English: Saheeh International)
Have We not given him two eyes,N (English: Sarwar)
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ﴿9﴾
And a tongue and two lips? (English: Saheeh International)
a tongue, and two lips? (English: Sarwar)
وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ﴿10﴾
And have shown him the two ways? (English: Saheeh International)
Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? (English: Sarwar)
