اقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مُعْرِضُونَ﴿1﴾
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. (English: Saheeh International)
The people\`s day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. (English: Sarwar)
مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ ذِكْرٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا اسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ﴿2﴾
No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play (English: Saheeh International)
Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner,N (English: Sarwar)
لَاهِيَةً قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا هَلْ هَذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ أَفَتَأْتُونَ السِّحْرَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ﴿3﴾
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?" (English: Saheeh International)
and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" (English: Sarwar)
قَالَ رَبِّي يَعْلَمُ الْقَوْلَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ﴿4﴾
The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." (English: Saheeh International)
The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), \`My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". (English: Sarwar)
بَلْ قَالُوا أَضْغَاثُ أَحْلَامٍ بَلِ افْتَرَاهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِآيَةٍ كَمَا أُرْسِلَ الْأَوَّلُونَ﴿5﴾
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]." (English: Saheeh International)
They have said, "It, (the Quran), is only the result of some confused dreams. He is only a poet. He should show us some miracles, as the ancient Prophets had done." (English: Sarwar)
مَا آمَنَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿6﴾
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? (English: Saheeh International)
The people of the town whom We had destroyed also had no faith. Will these people then believe in God? (English: Sarwar)
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِمْ فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ﴿7﴾
And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. (English: Saheeh International)
The messengers that We had sent before you were only men to whom We had given revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. (English: Sarwar)
وَمَا جَعَلْنَاهُمْ جَسَدًا لَا يَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا خَالِدِينَ﴿8﴾
And We did not make the prophets forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth]. (English: Saheeh International)
We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. (English: Sarwar)
ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَاهُمُ الْوَعْدَ فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُمْ وَمَنْ نَشَاءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا الْمُسْرِفِينَ﴿9﴾
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. (English: Saheeh International)
Our promise to them came true and We saved them and those whom We wanted, but destroyed the unjust people. (English: Sarwar)
لَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿10﴾
We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? (English: Saheeh International)
We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? (English: Sarwar)
