كهيعص﴿1﴾
Kaf, Ha, Ya, \`Ayn, Sad. (English: Saheeh International)
Kaf. Ha. Ya. Ain. Sad. (English: Sarwar)
ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُ زَكَرِيَّا﴿2﴾
[This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah (English: Saheeh International)
This is the story of the blessing of your Lord to His servant Zachariah. (English: Sarwar)
إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ نِدَاءً خَفِيًّا﴿3﴾
When he called to his Lord a private supplication. (English: Saheeh International)
When he quietly called his Lord (English: Sarwar)
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنْ بِدُعَائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا﴿4﴾
He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. (English: Saheeh International)
and said, "My Lord, my bones have become feeble and my hair has turned white with age. Yet I have never been deprived in receiving from You the answer to my prayers. (English: Sarwar)
وَإِنِّي خِفْتُ الْمَوَالِيَ مِنْ وَرَائِي وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِيًّا﴿5﴾
And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir (English: Saheeh International)
I am afraid of what my kinsmen will do after (my death) and my wife is barren. Lord, grant me a son (English: Sarwar)
يَرِثُنِي وَيَرِثُ مِنْ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ وَاجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا﴿6﴾
Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]." (English: Saheeh International)
who will be my heir and the heir of the family of Jacob. Lord, make him a person who will please you". (English: Sarwar)
يَا زَكَرِيَّا إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ اسْمُهُ يَحْيَى لَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا﴿7﴾
[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." (English: Saheeh International)
We answered his prayers with the glad news of the birth of a son by the name of John and told him, "We have never given such a name to anyone else." (English: Sarwar)
قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّى يَكُونُ لِي غُلَامٌ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَتِي عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ الْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّا﴿8﴾
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" (English: Saheeh International)
He said, "Lord, how can I have a son? My wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age". (English: Sarwar)
قَالَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْئًا﴿9﴾
[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, \`It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing.\` " (English: Saheeh International)
(The angel) said, "This is true, but your Lord says, \`For Me it is easy; I created you when you did not exist". (English: Sarwar)
قَالَ رَبِّ اجْعَلْ لِي آيَةً قَالَ آيَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ النَّاسَ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّا﴿10﴾
[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound." (English: Saheeh International)
Zachariah asked, " Lord, show me evidence (if this is a heavenly news)." The Lord said, "The evidence for it is that you must not speak (to any mortal) though you are in good health for three nights (and days)." (English: Sarwar)
