وَالْعَصْرِ﴿1﴾
By time,N (English: Saheeh International)
By the time (of the advent of Islam),N (English: Sarwar)
إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ﴿2﴾
Indeed, mankind is in loss,N (English: Saheeh International)
the human being is doomed to suffer loss,N (English: Sarwar)
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ﴿3﴾
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. (English: Saheeh International)
except the righteously striving believers who exhort each other to truthful purposes and to patience. (English: Sarwar)
وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ﴿1﴾
Woe to every scorner and mocker (English: Saheeh International)
Woe to every slanderer and backbiter (English: Sarwar)
الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ﴿2﴾
Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. (English: Saheeh International)
who collects and hordes wealth,N (English: Sarwar)
يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ﴿3﴾
He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. (English: Saheeh International)
thinking that his property will make him live forever. (English: Sarwar)
كَلَّا لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ﴿4﴾
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. (English: Saheeh International)
By no means! They will be thrown into hutamah. (English: Sarwar)
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ﴿5﴾
And what can make you know what is the Crusher? (English: Saheeh International)
Would that you knew what hutamah is! (English: Sarwar)
نَارُ اللهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ﴿6﴾
It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,N (English: Saheeh International)
It is a fierce fire created by God (English: Sarwar)
الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ﴿7﴾
Which mounts directed at the hearts. (English: Saheeh International)
to penetrate into the hearts. (English: Sarwar)
